1988 BMW M3 COUPE FINISHED IN HENNAROT OVER TAN 4 CYLINDER 192 HP 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION REAR WHEEL DRIVE
The E30 M3 is likely one of the most iconic BMW's ever produced and most certainly the best looking M3 ever! Upgrades over the "standard" 3 Series automobiles include more powerful and responsive engines, improved handling/suspension/braking systems, aerodynamic body enhancements, lightweight components, and interior/exterior accents with the tri-colour "M" (Motorsport) emblem. This M3 was originally painted Hennarot, but in 1998 the previous owner decided to repaint the vehicle in Hennarot with a twist. The vehicle had a full repaint with a pearl ascent Hennarot paint job. The owner at that time owned a custom paint shop and was showcasing his skills with this vehicle. There is no way to explain this paint job properly with out seeing it in person. It is the base hennarot color with a beautiful metallic flake, showing off the orange hue in the color. In the sunlight, this paint glows and shows off the multi layer metallic flake! The car was also finished with BBS RS212 wheels that give this M3 the perfect look. We do not have the OEM wheels, but this vehicle looks great with these BBS wheels on it. It is the original S14 engine with VIN tag.
The car does have limited service documents dating back to the first few years of ownership. The CarFax is clean and the vehicle shows no sign of accidents. There is a recent service reported on CarFax which shows a major service done including replacement of alternator, clutch, front brake rotors and pads, valve cover gaskets and water pump. In addition the Differential and transmission fluids were flushed at 138k miles by the previous owner. Despite the previous work that was done, we took it another step further and rebuilt the full motor. This service included New Timing Chain Set, Performance Ignition set (plugs, Wire Set, Dsitributor Cap, and Rotor), ARP Head Stud Kit, Custom MLS Headgasket, Exhaust Manifold Stud Kit, New Lower Oil Pan, Intake Manifold Gasket Set, Fresh Engine Oil, Coolant, and Trans Oil. While the engine was out, the Cylinder Head was Machined and Polished. The transmission and rear differential was also removed and resealed. This M3 has been gone through from head to tail and was finished with a clean Under Coating and the Valve Cover, Air Box, Front Cover and Upper and Lower Oil Pain were Powder Coated to finish the extra clean look.
This iconic body style is most well known for it's updates to the body, but also includes suspension, brakes and driveline as per below. This unique M3 is in amazing condition with all interior functions that are in working order. This car will not disappoint in any way!!
The E30 M3 differed from the rest of the E30 line-up in many ways. The M3, although using the same basic unit-body shell as the standard E30, was equipped with 12 different and unique body panels for the purposes of improving aerodynamics, as well as "box flared" wheel-arches in the front and rear to accommodate a wider track with wider and taller wheels and tires. The only exterior body panels the standard model 3-series and the M3 shared were the bonnet, roof panel, sunroof, and door panels.
The E30 M3 differed from the standard E30 by having a 5x120 wheel bolt pattern. The E30 M3 had increased caster angle through major front suspension changes. The M3 had specific solid rubber offset control arm bushings. It used aluminium control arms and the front strut tubes were changed to a design similar (bolt on kingpins and swaybar mounted to strut tube) to theE28 5-series. This included carrying over the 5 series front wheel bearings and brake caliper bolt spacing. The rear suspension was a carry over from the E30.
The E30 M3 had special front and rear brake calipers and rotors. It also has a special brake master cylinder.
The E30 M3 had one of two Getrag 265 5-speed gearboxes. US models received an overdrive transmission while European models were outfitted with a dogleg version, with first gear being down and to the left, and fifth gear being a direct 1:1 ratio. Rear differentials installed included a 4.10:1 final-drive ratio for US models. European versions were equipped with a 3.15:1 final drive ratio. All versions were clutch-type limited-slip differentials with 25% lockup.
